Cabana Smart: the future of beaches combining comfort and technology

From the traditional beach umbrella to Archibeach solutions

Coastal tourism is undergoing a major transformation. For over seventy years, the beach has been defined by the classic combination of umbrella and sunbeds. Today, alongside this familiar setup, there is a growing demand for larger, more flexible, and better-equipped spaces that can offer not only shade but also comfort, social interaction, and services.

In this context, the Cabana is emerging as a key feature — a shaded structure popular worldwide and increasingly sought after by beach resorts. Archibeach has developed its own interpretation with the Cabanita: a Cabana designed with specific engineering criteria for use on sand, available both for purchase and seasonal rental.

Generations compared, different needs

Older generations, such as Baby Boomers and Generation X, remain attached to the traditional model: the simple setup of an umbrella and sunbeds is a reassuring point of reference.

Younger generations, such as Millennials and Gen Z, have different habits: raised in an era of connection and sharing, they see the beach as a place to experience, capture, and share. For them, a simple “spot in the shade” is no longer enough — they seek spaces for socialising, comfort, and new experiences.

The Cabana is designed not to replace but to complement the traditional model, expanding the possibilities for everyone.

The Archibeach answer: Cabanita

Archibeach has developed the Cabanita, a version of the Cabana designed for seasonal rental and the typical conditions of beach use. It is a modular and multifunctional structure, featuring custom-made furnishings: pouffes, armchairs, sofas that can be converted into camp beds or chaise longues, small tables, and storage units.

The Cabalda Suite Bellavista, one of the most complete configurations, includes a front veranda with an opening roof, allowing sunbeds to be positioned either outside or in the shade of the porch. The setup becomes a true mini outdoor room, offering relaxation, conviviality, and privacy throughout the day.

Comfort, practicality, and sustainability

Archibeach’s design combines aesthetics and functionality:

  • Certified aluminium structure, lightweight yet sturdy;
  • Patented AJS system for quick assembly/disassembly, with no welding required;
  • Modular and stackable components for easy transport and storage.

It is already possible to integrate photovoltaic panels on the roof: up to 600 W per unit, with an energy storage battery providing power even in the evening hours. This setup supplies mini fridges, fans, USB chargers, and other small appliances, enhancing the experience with a focus on sustainability.

Future visions: Smart and Cabana Network

Alongside the solutions already in place, Archibeach looks to the future with the Cabanita Smart concept. It is not a commercial product, but rather a vision that imagines digital and IoT integrations for functions such as technical monitoring, remote management, and automation.

From this same vision comes the Cabana Network: each unit acts as a node connected to a management platform (PMS and booking). In this scenario:

  • operators manage bookings, occupancy, and services in real time;
  • clients access, via Wi-Fi, delivery options, events, information, and online bookings, with the possibility of self-booking and direct access to their assigned unit.

These are concepts that indicate the direction of evolution, without replacing the solutions already available today.

Operators’ concerns and Archibeach’s answers

For those accustomed to umbrellas and sunbeds, the Cabana may seem like a change of paradigm. The main concerns relate to cost, technical and IT management, assembly/disassembly, winter storage, safety, and maintenance support.

Archibeach’s response is based on industrial design and ease of use:

  • medium-low base cost, competitive on a per-person basis compared to traditional setups;
  • simple technical management, designed for intensive use;
  • AJS joint system for quick assembly and disassembly;
  • easy transport thanks to lightweight, compact modules;
  • efficient storage due to stackable, space-saving components;
  • structural warranty supported by certified materials;
  • no annual maintenance required, thanks to QUALICOAT (powder coating) and QUALANOD (anodising) standards;
  • guaranteed spare parts over time, based on proprietary component designs.

Three product lines

Archibeach offers three lines to meet different needs and budgets:

  • Cabanita: basic configurations for seasonal rental;
  • Cabalda Suite: more complete versions with veranda and retractable roof;
  • Cabanita Smart: a concept representing a future vision with potential digital and IoT integrations.

A new vision of the beach

The Cabana does not replace the umbrella — it complements it. It represents a new way to experience the seaside, in line with contemporary lifestyles and able to engage diverse audiences. With Cabanita, Archibeach combines comfort, design, sustainability, and vision: the beach of the future is not just a place to stay, but a space to experience, share, and tell.
